Description:

Chests may be made from a wide variety of woods although hardwoods are recommended. Mixing and matching woods for the top, sides, drawer fronts, knobs and pegs can give a wide variety of interesting looks. Secondary (inside woods) are usually #1 grade pine, basswood or poplar. All joinery is hand dovetailed, time consuming but visually appealing. All surfaces, inside and out are finely sanded and finished. Drawers are made to perfection, allowing them to slide freely with an almost airtight fit without using manufactured metal slides. I use natural finishes such as oil and wax, wax only or a special urethane blend for extra protection. Drawer bottoms are made of aromatic red cedar to repel moths and silverfish. The pieces I make will last for generations with only a little care providing safe protection for your valuable collection.
