Now, if the cabinet is to have a back, we route a rabbet groove along all the back surfaces to accommodate it. This is usually a high-grade plywood panel that is screwed in place using brass wood screws. If the cabinet is to be two sided, it will probably have opening doors on both sides so will not have the rabbet routed. Below can be seen the front of the cabinet showing the nicely finished routed edge.
