This piece is extremely well constructed in the Craftsman style using only mortise and tennon and dove tail joinery. H=18.5" W=20" D=13.5" WT=20lbs. The legs and stretchers are constructed of red oak with a light finish. The top may be of red oak or dark walnut. The drawer fronts may be red oak, dark walnut or clear pine. The cabinet sides may be red oak, dark walnut or clear pine. Drawer insides are clear pine and drawer bottoms are of poplar or aromatic cedar which keeps away moths.
All drawer construction is made using hand cut dovetail joinery. Mixing and matching woods for the top, sides, drawer fronts and knobs will give a wide variety of interesting looks. All surfaces, inside and out, are fine sanded and finished with a special mixture of oils and urethane which is then waxed to a smooth sheen. The drawer sides and backs are finished to perfection allowing them to slide freely.
Note: This same design may be scaled up to a larger size to make a two or three drawer linen chest.
